Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics: four big words on every students’ mind. In our rapidly advancing, high technology-based world, we are in high demand of analysts, technicians, and scientists. Schools across the nation are pushing that four-letter acronym: STEM. But is this type of curriculum the best approach to solving today’s issues? When we focus solely on the sciences, we only build one side of the brain. In order to address modern challenges, the complete brain must be built, one that understands the importance of STEM and has the creative qualities to create a solution. Dennis Doyle is a senior at Baldwin High School. He has been active in a wide variety of activities and organizations including being President of the Student Council, President of the National Art Honor Society, as well as a captain of the cross-country team. Dennis will be attending a four-year university next fall in order to continue his education in chemistry and studio arts. This ta
