Purple snails, or purple sea snails, are called so because they come in shades of purple! They are also known as violet snails for this reason. These marine gastropods are also known as bubble raft snails - so they have a variety of common names! These animals spend their lives suspended at the very top of the ocean's water column dependent on their own ability to make the bubbles that keep them afloat. If all a bubble snail's bubbles burst, it would sink to the bottom and eventually die. It might seem like a plight, but these animals are quite hardy and even take on strong stingers in the animal world like the Portuguese man of war! Scientific Name: Genus - Janthina Range: Worldwide in warm waters of tropical and temperate seas Size: up to 1.57in (4cm) Diet: cnidarians like blue bottles and the Portuguese man of war Lifespan: n/a ✨ Animal Fact Files Patreon Supporters get early access to videos, get their video requests moved to the top of our request list, and more! ✨ 👉 https://www
