One School. One old building. One new building. One biomimicry workshop: Students at Escuela Verde in Milwaukee participate in Next.cc’s biomimicry workshop. Through a collaborative approach, students explore how natural principles can inform their own learning environment. How can patterns in nature influence renovation designs that respond to the school culture, technological needs, and learning advisory aspirations? By the end of the day, students created innovative digital and physical models for learning spaces and proposed a new green roof. Through hands-on, group activities, students accessed the tools and knowledge of design participation and empowered 21st century design methods in re-imagining new ways of learning and making.
