Sculptures made from trash? Now that's recycling! The Washed Ashore Project uses real trash found Oregon beaches to make beautiful, oversized sculptures of nautical species. We caught up with the Director of Conservation at The Washed Ashore Project, Brad Parks, to learn more about the organization and how they're impacting wildlife and ecosystems around them. To celebrate Earth Day, here are a few easy steps to ensure your trash doesn't end up in a Washed Ashore exhibit: - Properly dispose of your trash and recycle what you can. - Avoid single-use plastic bottles. Carry a reusable water bottle with you each day instead. - Take reusable bags with you to the grocery store or opt for paper bags that you can recycle. - Buy more bulk food and fewer packaged products. - Look at the packaging of the household items you regularly purchase and look for alternatives that come in eco-friendly packaging. Did you know there's laundry detergent that is sold in sheets and comes in a recyclable cardboard box? Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom is back in action with our new series, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild. Airing weekends on NBC's "The More You Know" programming block, Co-Hosts Peter Gros and Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant share conservation success stories happening all around us. They take us to wild places as we meet incredible species and the amazing people working to save them. Check your local listings for the airtime in your area.
