The first workshop in this four-part series is delivered by one of our Chief Adjudicators, Andrew Chen. Hailing from New Zealand, Andrew is the Chair of Debate Selection Committee at the Oxford Union Society, leading its competitive debating activities. He is a distinguished debater, most notably reaching the quarterfinals of the World University Debating Championships and placing among the top 10 speakers in Europe. Andrew is also an experienced adjudicator, having judged 40+ tournaments across 5 continents and several finals, and served as Chief Adjudicator of multiple tournaments, including the 2021 Oxford Schools’ Debating Competition. Andrew has coached school debating from Year 7 to Year 13 for many years as well as internal debating squads at the Oxford Union.
