In this presentation, lead by Dr. Jonathan Dalton, he will review the differences between anxiety disorders and non-disordered anxiety that can still interfere with functioning, as well as the different approached to helping children who are experiencing both phenomena. Next, Dr. Dalton will review the central role that avoidance plays in the development and maintenance of anxiety disorders and how to reduce it, and lastly, he will review the mechanisms through which we can assist children who are experiencing high levels of anxiety related to the pandemic build problem solving skills, flexibility, resilience, self-efficacy, and learned optimism.
