So what is the difference between a need and a want? The easiest way to explain this is that A Need is something you require and must have to survive; like food, water, and a safe place to live. A want is something nice to have, but you don’t really need it and can actually live without it. Every person has the same basic needs of water, food, clothing, and shelter to live and keep them alive. Your body needs liquid to survive. Water is a good liquid to drink because it keeps you healthy. The need for water is the most important because a person will die very quickly when they do not have drinking water. But, there are liquids that are good, but not needed. They are wanted. A want is something you would like to have but are not needed for survival. You may want something but that thing is not absolutely necessary, you just want it because it tastes good, or makes you feel good. Having a big tasty Ice cream cone or piece of cake is a want, but you know that You don't really need to eat ice cream to survive. We like to eat it.
