Elephant gets experimental treatment to relieve arthritis

Veterinarians at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. have developed a new treatment to relieve arthritis pain in one of their elephants. Chief veterinarian Don Neiffer said, in a video posted on the zoo's website, that veterinarians have been treating Shanti, a 41-year-old Asian elephant at the zoo, for arthritis for more than a decade.
