The mountain gorillas are critically endangered, with population numbers hovering around 880 individuals. There is a small strip of land on the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo that has been carved out as their last refuge on the planet. In April of 2015, I had the opportunity to make the trek to see a family of 24 gorillas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Production music courtesy of Epidemic Sound
